Sick and tired

I’m sure that Rhianon will agree with me when I say that being sick sucks eggs! As moms, we take care of our children through sickness and health. We even do it for our husbands when they come home from work acting like they are going to die from a minor cold. However, who takes care of us when we are sick?

Yesterday, I either ate some really bad chili or caught a stomach bug. It was not pleasant, to say the least. Did the world stop for me? Nope. Did my household stop to notice? Not at all. The kids were their normal degree of crazy, my hubby left to help a neighbor hang her Christmas lights and I was left to manage frequent trips to the restroom and parenting our crazy spawn. I honestly do not know how parents with terminal illnesses cope with raising kids. When I am not feeling well, the house goes to pot, dinner is cereal and the kids run rampant….and I could give a crap.

I finally told my husband that if he did not come home and allow me to lay by the toilet for a few hours, I would probably end up needing to wear a diaper and bib to catch the toxic fluids coming from every orifice. He obliged, finally and I was allowed to rest in the *quiet of my room. What a difference a nap makes! I awoke feeling 50% better and was able to resume my matronly duties….somewhat.

How do you cope when you are ill? Leave your comments below!

*Quiet: a relative term in my home, meaning a lower level of cacophony than can be heard in the rest of the house.
